He was a master service technician and worked on many different types of office equipment. He was a devout Christian and attended First Baptist Church of Kennesaw. He is preceded by his parents, Russell Earl Tarrant and Alice Butler Tarrant. Douglas was on the Northside High varsity basketball team that won the Region 5 AA Championship. He was included in Who Among American High School Students. He was a member of Northside High Chorale.

He attended the University of North Carolina at Wilmington. Douglas was an accomplished musician and composer. Born on May 21, 1934, he was a native of Greenville, South Carolina. He was predeceased by his parents, Leland Epton Pettit, Jr. and Ruth Willis Pettit, his beloved aunts, Ethel and Allene Willis of Greenville and Dr. Jack Perkins, his partner of 35 years. a 1954 graduate of Furman University in Business, Mr.

Pettit began his banking career at First National Banking in Columbia, South Carolina. Moving to Atlanta in 1965, he was in Commercial Finance with HotPoint. Then he became an officer with The Peoples American Bank of Atlanta. First Georgia Bank acquired Peoples and he continued his successful banking career in management. He retired from First Georgia Bank as Senior Vice President and Secretary to the Board of Directors.

Mr. Pettit, a man of impeccable taste, was named in his class at Furman. This tradition continued throughout his life in his dress, his home and his relationships with family and friends. He is survived by his two sisters and brothers-in-law, nieces, nephews and cousins who loved him dearly. A visitation service will be held at his home at 5:30 PM on Tuesday, November 23rd, followed by a reception.

Mr. Pettit requested that his friends and family not mourn his passing but celebrate his life. She attended Oglethorpe University, where she met her loving future husband, Hubert McLucas.

They married at the Emory University Chapel in 1943. She was President of the Wesleyan Service Guild and at various times her Sunday School Class, Virginia was very active in the United Methodist Church at Park Street and later at Lithia Springs. She was a member of United Methodist Women and chairwoman of the Missions Committee for years. She was honored as Douglas County Homemaker of the Year in 1972. A member of South Cobb Arts Alliance and Douglas County Art Guild, she devoted much time to painting and art shows.

She was a wonderful, devoted mother who will be deeply missed by her family and friends. Survivors include sons, David and Philip McLucas and daughter Anita Schrenk and Donna Garmon. After moving to Florida from Smyrna three years ago, Mark and his wife had just recently moved back to the metro Atlanta area. Mark previously served on committee for the planning of the Memorial and the Planning and Zoning Committee. A 1968 graduate of Campbell High School, Mark served twenty years in the military, including the Air Force, Navy, Army and was a longtime member of the American Legion. Through the years, he and his family were active members in King Springs Baptist Church and also Locust Grove Baptist. Mark was dedicated to the education and laughter of others, but most of all to his family.
